Privacy Policy

Effective 10 October 2026. Applies to the Rumah Ibadah app (Android and iOS), its web version and this website, published by Rumah Ibadah ("we", "us").

1. The short version

• There is no account and no sign-up. We do not know who you are.
• We run no servers that receive your data. The app talks directly to the open data services listed below.
• Your location is only used to ask those services for nearby places of worship. We never store it.
• No analytics, no advertising, no tracking SDKs, and we never sell data.

2. Data handled on your device

Location. When you allow location access, the app reads your current position to centre the map and to request nearby places. The position stays on your device except as described in section 3. You can refuse the permission and search by typing a place name instead.

Preferences. The app saves your chosen language on your device. It is not sent anywhere.

Nothing else. The app does not read your contacts, photos, files, calendar or any other personal data.

3. Third-party services the app contacts

To work, the app sends requests over HTTPS to the independent services below. Each request reveals your IP address and standard technical details (such as the app's user agent) to that service, like any internet request. Each service has its own privacy policy.

• OpenStreetMap services (Overpass API, Nominatim) receive the map area or coordinates you are looking at, so they can return places of worship and addresses.
• OpenStreetMap tile servers receive the map tiles you view.
• Holy book providers receive the chapter you open: alquran.cloud (Qur'an), bible.helloao.org (Bible), Sefaria (Torah), SuttaCentral (Dhammapada), the Vedic Scriptures API (Bhagavad Gita) and GurbaniNow (Guru Granth Sahib). The Analects and the Tao Te Ching are built into the app and need no request.
• App stores. Google Play and the Apple App Store handle downloads, purchases and crash reports under their own policies. Crash reports we receive from the stores are anonymous and used only to fix bugs.

We do not add identifiers, advertising IDs or any personal information to these requests.

4. This website

This site is static and hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process connection logs (IP address, user agent) for security and delivery under its own privacy policy. The site stores only your language choice in a cookie, and loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font is fetched. The store buttons send you to Google Play or the App Store.

5. Children

The app is suitable for all ages but is not aimed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone, including children.

6. Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can revoke permissions at any time in your device settings. If you believe we hold data about you, contact us and we will answer within 30 days.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
